Someone's Diary: Vol. 6 · Kannazuka

A journal someone left in the wild, describing their misfortune on Jinren Island.

—Jinren Island—

I stole a small boat from the pirates' ship, rowed three days and three nights, and finally came ashore.

From here I can see the famous high mountain on Narukami Island, and the giant sakura growing upon it. The Sacred Sakura's colors look especially quiet and gentle under the moonlight… enough to make one homesick.

I wonder if Dongdong is lonely in Qingce Village, and whether coming so far to seek a living was the right choice after all. Maybe once people grow older, all sorts of idle thoughts just start to rise.

I wandered about this deserted island and picked some purple sweet melons. Astringent, almost no flavor; if you eat them with the skin they dye your teeth and tongue purple, and it only fades slowly after a long while… Next time I should try cooking them first.

I made a small camp on the island. At first light tomorrow I'll head south… those pirates said Inazuma City is that way.

There must be many job opportunities in the city. Better to give up these foolish notions of adventure and find proper work in this country. Once I've saved a sum and have a house of my own, I can bring Dongdong over to live with me.

After all, houses here are cheaper than in Liyue Harbor.
