The Stone Tablet Compilations
The Stone Tablet Compilations: Vol. 1
A history compiled by the ancient historian Zi Chang, who translated Liyue's stone-slab inscriptions that recorded the past. It gathers many short, broken episodes.
At first, the Geo Lord descended, drove back the tides, raised Tianheng, and stilled the tidal flows. Then the people lived in peace: they opened the mountains for jade, cut rock for roads, and piled stone into strongholds. It was said: a mountain that holds jade has brilliance—so they named it "Mountain Brilliance Fort." In those days most folk of Tianheng lived by mining, and for a thousand li there were no poor among travelers.
Note: Mountain Brilliance Fort is now corrupted in speech to "Mountain Brilliance Rock." Long decayed, it has become mere mountain stone and no longer looks as it first did.

There was a dust Archon named Guizhong who befriended the Geo Lord. She set strong crossbows to guard Tianheng, called the "Guizhong Ballista," and led her people to dwell north of Tianheng, living by the plow. In her prime, paths crossed paths; towns and fields reached as far as Stone Gate without break. Guizhong once said to the Geo Lord: "Now my people live and work in peace, almost as if they had returned home. Why not name this place Guili Plains?" The Geo Lord praised the thought. Thus Guili Plains received its name.
Note: Later many Archons schemed for power and chaos rose at once. Though the adepti fought hard to hold the line, the war was tangled; Guili Plains suffered deep from the melee, and the Dust God Guizhong also died there. So Rex Lapis moved her people south of Tianheng. Guili Plains fell waste and never again knew its former prosperity.

When the Geo Lord pacified the Archons, adepti and yakshas each took their places, and Liyue returned to peace. A thousand years of Archon war had ruined the mulberry fields. Liyue's people then turned to trade and craft. The foremost among them joined as one and named themselves the "Qixing." Thus the seed of Liyue Harbor took shape. Under the Qixing were eight offices covering every trade within and without. The Millelith army also obeyed the Qixing, calming the people within and suppressing demons without. Such was the rule of Rex Lapis.
