Dodoco's Great Adventure
Dodoco's Great Adventure
A fairy-tale book Lisa wrote after the special game "Dodoco's Bomb-tastic Adventure," recording how Spark Knight, Dodoco, Special Jumpy Dumpty, the Honorary Knight, and the little white helper adventured together and defeated the Horned Fish...
In peaceful Cider Lake, Mondstadt's fish were enjoying a quiet life...
But then an army of Horned Fish never seen before suddenly appeared in these waters. They wore strange armor, carried tiny short swords, and were fierce and overbearing. They seized the homes of Mondstadt's fish and drove them away with rough force.
"Gu-ha-ha! This is the territory of our Horned King!"
To protect their home and drive out the bullies, the fish of Mondstadt found Dodoco—who was very strong and full of ideas—and Spark Knight—who had a wonderful nature and a good heart—and asked Dodoco and Spark Knight for help...
"Boom-boom... eh? We can't use Jumpy Dumpty this time?"
Because the powerful Jumpy Dumpty bombs would blow up the fishes' homes as well and leave the lakebed of Cider Lake a wreck, they had to think of another way.
Idea-rich Dodoco and Spark Knight talked it over carefully and made "Especially Especially Safe and Reliable Jumpy Dumpty Bombs": small and agile, able to blast away the bad Horned Fish with perfect aim, without affecting the innocent fish at all!
But the name "Especially Especially Safe and Reliable Jumpy Dumpty Bombs" was far too long, and Spark Knight always got it wrong... so they just called them "Special Jumpy"!
"Wait a second! Let me prick up my ears and listen—"
It turned out Dodoco's long ears were not only cute—her hearing was super sharp!
Wherever the Horned Fish were moving, and which way the Special Jumpy would swim once tossed into the water, Dodoco could hear it all with ease!
That way, Special Jumpy could show its power in the most accurate place and defeat the bad Horned Fish!
But the Horned Fish soldiers seemed prepared. There were so many of them that Spark Knight and Dodoco were rushed off their feet, tired and hungry, and Special Jumpy was almost used up!
"With only that much skill, you think you can beat us who conquered the Five Great Waters?"
Where were the Five Great Waters the Horned Fish spoke of? Had fish in other places been bullied by this pack too?
Dodoco and Spark Knight were completely lost, so they went back to the library and asked the "Witch of the Books."
The "Witch of the Books" did not even open a book; she only laughed lightly:
"Those so-called Five Great Waters might just be east of Cider Lake, south of Cider Lake, west of Cider Lake, north of Cider Lake, and the middle of Cider Lake~"
Only then did Spark Knight and Dodoco suddenly understand: they had been tricked!
Unfortunately, the cunning Horned Fish used that chance to haul in reefs, build sturdy barriers, and even hide among water plants, playing a mean game of hide-and-seek with Dodoco and Spark Knight...
Now dealing with the Horned Fish was even harder!
Dodoco and Spark Knight brought reinforcements—the Honorary Knight and the little white helper. The two experienced helpers gave key advice.
The Honorary Knight said while looking at the map:
"Just like adventuring—decide your direction before you go."
Dodoco understood—if they could control the direction of the blast, they could boost Special Jumpy's power and hit Horned Fish farther away!
The little white helper said while snacking:
"You can also make bombs explode in all sorts of shapes—the more complex, the harder to dodge!"
Spark Knight had an idea: let Special Jumpy explode into the shapes of all kinds of snacks! That would lure the greedy Horned Fish and wipe them out in one blast!
So Dodoco and Spark Knight improved Special Jumpy into versions with different skills.
The differently skilled Special Jumpy could release explosions of many shapes, easily passing through water plants and hitting fish soldiers in awkward positions!
Even if they could not crack the hard stone, they could work around the obstacles and give the Horned Fish behind a big surprise.
With these Special Jumpy, Dodoco and Spark Knight no longer had to fear the Horned Fish soldiers' ambushes!
The Horned Fish soldiers fell back again and again. At last the Horned Fish King heard of Dodoco and came storming out to fight!
From the Honorary Knight and the little white helper's experience, round, puffy fellows are usually hard to deal with!
Looking at the Horned Fish side—why had so many round, puffy, glittering-gold Kings shown up all at once?
No matter how you thought about it, something was fishy everywhere...
The little white helper said while snacking:
"Don't be afraid—maybe these Kings only painted themselves gold with berries!"
The Honorary Knight said while looking at the map:
"Even if they dyed themselves with moon lotuses, combat power would only rise by fifty percent—a fish is still a fish!"
So the Horned Fish "King" was more like a title, only looking scary to people and fish; gold did not mean that kind of Horned Fish King was strong!
Spark Knight and Dodoco relaxed—then they would not have to keep lecturing these Kings until dark and go home so late that everyone would worry!
The main thing left was to finish the problem in front of them, and fast!
Encouraged by the Kings, the soldiers piled circle after circle of stone and water plants, and their arrogant swagger had not lessened one bit!
Dodoco, Spark Knight, the Honorary Knight, and the little white helper had to think carefully about their plan—how to send out their limited Special Jumpy so they could beat them in a few strikes...
Spark Knight looked at the little white helper circling the Honorary Knight and suddenly thought of something...
"But these Horned Fish only know how to defend against Special Jumpy from the front—can't we just go around?"
The Horned Fish could only move in the water, but Spark Knight and Dodoco were free as they liked: they could walk along the shore to a side the Horned Fish had not prepared, then throw Special Jumpy!
Under the clever, accurate bombing of Special Jumpy, the Horned Fish were thoroughly defeated and slunk away!
On the way back they even packed up everything they had brought and left no trash in Cider Lake!
Dodoco, Special Jumpy, Spark Knight, the Honorary Knight, and the little white helper together held Cider Lake and returned the usual happy life to Mondstadt's fish!
To reward their hard-working selves, Dodoco, Special Jumpy, Spark Knight, the Honorary Knight, and the little white helper spread a cloth by the lake and happily held a picnic.
The picnic menu was: mint jelly, caramel cookies, berry cake, and tomato with chili—sweet, spicy, and perfect for shaking off tiredness!
The crisis of Cider Lake was over; Dodoco and Spark Knight had done a great deed!
Perhaps the harvest of this adventure—experience making Special Jumpy—would come in handy again someday!
