The Legend of Vennessa
The Legend of Vennessa: Part II
A ballad widely sung since Mondstadt's rebuilding, telling how Vennessa, founder of the Knights of Favonius, met the Anemo Archon Barbatos, defeated a demon dragon, and overthrew the nobles.
Drink deep, friends of Mondstadt's taverns—do not stop!
At last one day, Barbatos answered her fervent prayer.
Following the maiden's red hair, the Anemo Archon descended into the prison.
"All things have names," said the playful spirit,
"Let me write a song with your name,
"And let your friendship be my reward."
The maiden gladly agreed, her heart full of omens of liberation.
And so, in Barbatos's song,
The maiden defeated the demon dragon that ravaged the plains.
The fat-bellied nobles' courage cracked as well.
"Mondstadt is freedom," the wind sang for the people.
Lonely breezes in the woods gathered and toppled the tyrant's tower.
The young lion raised its head in the wind and broke its chains at last.
Thus the maiden won a name for herself.
As the Anemo Archon's answering voice, her heart was full of thanks—
Yet Barbatos refused her gratitude.
"In your song, you are the lead.
"I took your friendship and gained your name;
"Of course I shall sing for your freedom."
Drink, friends—let us raise our cups again!
This is the spring of Mondstadt's freedom.
When the day is dark without light, and despair climbs the face again,
Never forget the tale of the great hero Vennessa—
Never give up the hope of freedom!
